Louis Cleveland Grider Jr, born in Louisville Kentucky May 9 1968. Raised in Elizabethtown Kentucky by Louis and Rose Grider. Louis attended G. C Burkhead elementary school, Hardin Central Junior High School, and is a Graduate of West Hardin High School Class of 1986. Louis has like many Kentuckians has worked in an array of jobs on his way to making his run for U.S. Senate. Working for local restaurants Ponderosa, Po Folks in his high school years.
After high school moving into metal fabrication with M & W industries in Rural Hall North Carolina. Upon his return to Kentucky he was employed with a local factory as a line worker for Inland Packaging in Elizabethtown, where he also spent time as a Volunteer Fire Fighter for the Elizabethtown Fire Department.
Louis then left Kentucky to serve his country after enlisting in the United States Navy. He served in various duty stations during his Naval career on the U.S.S La Salle AGF-3, U.S.S New Orleans LPH-11, at Adak Alaska NAS and on the U.S.S Abraham Lincoln CVN-72. Serving as an Aviation Boatswain’s Mate Handler aiding in the launch and recovery of aircraft, firefighting, crash and salvage as well as rescue operations. Louis is an Iraqi War Veteran serving in Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm. During his time in the Navy Louis also made time to volunteer at San Ysidro Middle School.
After his career in the Navy Louis followed in the career path of his father Louis Sr. As a commercial driver, splitting time between local companies as well as over the road companies traveling all over The United States. Louis has also owned local retail businesses in Hardin and Jefferson Counties that provided jobs and training that could be carried into other areas of past employees lives. Louis started his political career when he announced his candidacy for Hardin County Sheriff.
